Area Description

The Burbank Canyons WSA, located in the Pine Nut Mountains northwest of Wellington, Nevada, consists of three deep, scenic canyons with scattered riparian areas. Red Canyon, on the north side, holds a small perennial stream and trout fishery which one can drive to on the boundary road.

Sagerush, pinyon pine and juniper are abundant. Riparian vegetation, found on about 300 acres, is important wildlife habitat.

Hiking and camping, riding and hunting opportunities are available in this land of steep and rugged ridges and canyon slopes above the narrow riparian canyon bottom. Surrounding ridges provide a sense of solitude in the small, narrow Burbank Canyon.

This Wilderness Study Area is a component of the Bureau of Land Management's National Conservation Lands.
